Beach Vacations in Santa Barbara
Our vacation homes really allow you to enjoy the beach community and stunning California coastline. You can walk to the beach, walk along the shore and see a wide array of seabirds, or if you are really lucky, surfing dolphins and whales just off shore.
The Santa Barbara Channel has been called the Galapagos of the North for its unusual array of marine life -- seals, dolphins, grey and blue whales are just a fraction of the many animals that call Santa Barbara their home. And, the Channel Island National Park is just a boat ride away, one of the country's least visited, but most beautiful parks.
We are also very close to some of the best tide pools you can find [tides permitting]. You will be fascinated by tiny creatures -- crabs, star fish, mussels. octopods - and the famous giant sea kelp that grows just off-shore and washes up on the beach.
If you are a birdwatcher, the Santa Barbara coast also offers many species to add to your bird checklist: pelagic loons, cormorants, stormy-petrals, murres, and pelicans play on the shore to mention only a very few. In the garden, stunning hummingbirds are attracted to the many flowers that bloom all year and can be seen collecting nectar as they flit from flower to flower.
