Living in Santa Barbara is great for beach lovers. There are dozens of beaches from which to choose. One could visit a different stretch of sand every day of the week and have a unique experience at each. Visitors often congregate at the easy access city-close beaches such as Butterfly Beach in Montecito, or Leadbetter Beach near downtown Santa Barbara. Both are great and both have something to offer visitors.
Butterfly Beach sits in front of the beautiful Four Seasons Biltmore Hotel. This charming beach is safe for swimming and great for sunbathing and strolling. If your visit is well-timed there may be a gourmet gelato truck parked along Channel Drive for a tasty treat.
Leadbetter Beach is a fun beach that offers Stand-Up Paddle Rentals from Channel Island Outfitters, a great restaurant right on the sand, a famous surf break and much much more.
For the adverterious spirit, head out of town and visit some rustic beaches north of Santa Barbara. El Capitan State Beach, Rufugio State Beach and Gaviota State Beach are all great choices. There are also hidden gems off highway 101 worth exploring. But be very cautious when walking across the railroad tracks!!
